| When going to find and purchase a new computer, it's easy to see the allure of tablet computers. With windows 8 promising to expand further on what is possible with hand held computing, it's no wonder tablets are selling so well. Many think that because of this, tower computers will go out of business in the near future. However, most admit that tower computers are far too convenient and useful to give up quite yet, and though tablets are racing to catch up with all the pros of a tower computer, most small businesses still rely on their Windows XP applications to get them through the day. Which Is Better To Take With You To School? Tablets are built with Wi-fi as part of their programming and good laptops also have this as an established norm. Depending on the expense of the device, your ability to access a variety of different network services will vary. Some tablets cost will increase significantly if they have the ability to access telecom wi-fi such as 3G networks. Since almost all 3G and "4G" network access is very slow and increasingly burdened, there is little to distinguish either offering as significant. Wi-fi networks using local access devices like Cisco or Belkin do not favor one device over another either and both perform equally well. The physical form of a tablet is more comfortable to hold and interact with in almost every environment, and we can't say enough in favor of the multi-touch interface used by most tablets. It's that interface that sets tablets apart from laptops or desktops, in most cases. It's more powerful, making a mouse or a trackpad seem like a limiting relic of the past. Touching is more intuitive anyway, and a mouse only gives you one virtual finger with which to interact with the digital world; a tablet gives you 2, 3, or even 5. It was only a matter of time before tablets and laptops fused. Lenovo will be one of the first entrants to the market with a Windows 8 device, and there will be many more to follow. This is an important development for students and schools alike. Until Windows 8 is officially released on October 26, 2012, there is little solid data to further speculate how this will unfold. It does seem that we are about the embark upon three ecosystems for tablets; iOS, Android, and Windows 8, as well as new types of hardware devices more closely aligned with student needs. You can even buy these items online from merchants who have reduced the prices even more than they already are. Remember that online merchants do not have the same overhead and can therefore sell their merchandise cheaper. In many states the online merchants are not required to charge sales taxes on the things they sell. This can save you at least eight dollars on every one hundred dollars you spend. These devices are amazing little computers that put the world at your fingertips. An Android tablet PC is an affordable, durable, device that has a longer battery life than a laptop computer has.
